Summary
As part of a cross-border relocation, MECSOL handled the electrical disconnection of two Schuler presses — 1,500 and 3,000 tons — at the Glasgow, Kentucky plant, tagging every circuit as it came apart, and then performed the electrical reconnection of those same presses at their new home in Monclova, Coahuila. The crew that took them apart is the crew that put them back together.
The problem
On a stamping press of this size, the electrical side is where a relocation is won or lost. Hundreds of conductors, junction boxes, control signals and power circuits have to come apart in a way that lets the machine start up months later, more than six hundred miles away, without a single wiring error. One conductor mis-identified at the origin turns into weeks of troubleshooting at the destination — with the line down the whole time.
The customer needed an electrical specialist who could work on U.S. soil and still answer for the start-up in Mexico: the same technical lead on both ends of the move.
What MECSOL did
We put our electrical crew on the floor in Glasgow, Kentucky, to disconnect both Schuler presses under a strict tagging protocol: every junction box, every circuit and every point on the crown was identified and documented, press by press and section by section, before energy was isolated and conductors were pulled.
That tagging was not paperwork — it was the insurance policy on the project. When the presses reached Monclova, Coahuila, our own crew ran the electrical reconnection straight off the documentation generated at the origin, closing out the electrical scope with one technical lead from end to end.
Scope executed
- Equipment: two Schuler stamping presses, 1,500 and 3,000 tons.
- Origin phase (Glasgow, Kentucky, U.S.): complete electrical disconnection with our own crews — tagging and documented identification of circuits, junction boxes and crown wiring, energy isolation and conductor removal.
- Destination phase (Monclova, Coahuila): electrical reconnection of both presses against the origin documentation.
- Traceability: a technical photo file of more than a thousand images — boxes labeled by press and section, wiring documented point by point.
- Customer: executed through AMISA Group / International Rigging.
Result
Both Schuler presses came out disconnected, documented and released for transport without incident in Kentucky — and went back together in Monclova under the same crew that took them apart. Keeping one technical lead across origin and destination removed the classic failure of a fragmented relocation: the wiring nobody can account for. The electrical scope closed complete, with full traceability.
