Summary
MECSOL ran a two-phase cross-border project for Carrier, following the equipment from origin to final destination. We handled the disconnection and loading of two production lines at the Collierville, Tennessee plant, and closed the project out with the electrical work on those same lines at the CMX plant in Santa Catarina, Nuevo León.
The problem
The customer needed to move critical operating infrastructure between two countries — tearing down two complete production lines at the origin plant in the United States and reconnecting them in Mexico. The hard part was the schedule: the first phase had to be executed in an aggressive two-week window on U.S. soil, and then the same equipment had to get exactly the right electrical work to come back to life at the new plant in Nuevo León. Splitting teardown at the origin and installation at the destination across several contractors would have raised the odds of technical failures and expensive delays at start-up.
What MECSOL did
To protect high-value assets and hold the agreed teardown-and-ship schedule, MECSOL acted as the technical integrator on both sides of the border, working together with AMISA Group and International Rigging.
In the Tennessee phase, our crew took direct responsibility for safe electromechanical disconnection, methodical teardown of every component, industrial crating for transit, and the loading of both lines onto transport. In the second phase we supported bringing the equipment back up at the Santa Catarina plant, where our technicians executed the electrical work needed to energize and test the reinstalled machinery. By keeping technical control from initial teardown through final hook-up, we closed the communication gaps that usually cause trouble and got a safe start-up.
Scope executed
- Locations: Carrier plant in Collierville, TN (U.S.) and Carrier CMX plant in Santa Catarina, N.L. (Mexico).
- Duration and phases: two consecutive stages — the transfer in December 2021, and the electrical work from January to May 2022.
- Origin work (U.S.): electromechanical disconnection, teardown, specialized crating and truck loading of two complete production lines inside a critical 2-week window (quote MCS-10048).
- Destination work (Mexico): electrical service on the equipment at the new facility to bring it up correctly (quote MSI-10058).
Result
The cross-border transfer went through with the technical precision and logistical control it needed. The machinery from both production lines was disconnected, crated and loaded safely in Tennessee, inside the two-week window. On arrival in Mexico, the equipment got the electrical integration it required, and the Carrier CMX plant in Santa Catarina resumed manufacturing with no unplanned interruptions and no damage to its assets.
